It was 26 degrees outside and we were stuck in a room with two small windows. The writing, along with the flipcharts and Post-its, was well and truly on the wall. If this continued the final afternoon session would be a eminently forgettable…
Time for a change of scenery?
Outside there was a river, a croquet lawn, a huge oak tree with cool shade and nature chiming in the soundtrack. It was a no-brainer. Environment, I’ve learnt the hard way, can neutralise the best facilitation. No matter how good you are, if you are crammed in to the boardroom trying to be creative the walls just close in and squash the buzz.
Think Venue
My group were so grateful to spend the afternoon in the sun and really connected with the model we were working through. Sadly no time for croquet but note to self to make sure I remember to urge clients to think venue more when we set these up.
